Live plants and cut flowers are not permitted in The James or our intensive care units because they may spread infections. For James patients, floral arrangements made of silk, paper, plastic or ceramic may be given. Only mylar balloons are permitted in our hospitals; no rubber or latex balloons are allowed due to concerns about allergic reactions.
