Cracking Myself Up!

The temperature is going high again today, so my home office is heating up.  So I turned up the ceiling fan.  Now my eyes are drying out.  So I put on a ball cap to protect my eyes from the fan!  Starts to sound like some wacky children's book (aka The King, the Mice, and the Cheese!).

For those of you who have lost track, I am working from home these days, an employee (W-2 + Benefits) of Greythorn Consulting, for Maricopa Hospital in Phoenix.  I was there on site for about 3-4 weeks before they sent me back here to work for them from Tucson.

There are goods and bads to it.  It saves the hospital money, so they don't have to pay my expenses up there.  The guys I sat next to at their office were loud and frequently boisterous and sometimes downright obnoxious (not reporting team people).  So it's quieter here and I can be more productive.  Except that my laptop and their VPN connection are s......l.........o........w......so my mind wanders while I wait for a response to a click.

Hence, blogging.

Landed safe from LA, Tucson hazy and 97

No hundreds forecasted all week, PTL!

The Hollywood Bowl

Tonight Ellen, her husband Bill, and I went to the Hollywood Bowl outdoor amphitheater to see the LA Philharmonic led by Gustavo Dudamel with Placido Domingo and a wonderful soprano from the LA opera whose name I didn't catch.

It was a beautiful evening under the Hollywood sign.

Yesterday in LA

Ellen and I had lunch at the Himalayan Cafe in Pasadena. So delicious!

Then spent the day at the Norton Simon museum which has "the best collection of Impressionist painting west of the Mississippi".

This Van Gogh painting just drew you to it. They had it right inside the first gallery. It absolutely glows, the colors are so brilliant.

Day 1 Los Angeles

The eye doctor visit today went swimmingly.  It was for the pterrigiums on my eyes.  The ophthalmalgist who I saw here in LA thought they may need removing, but this specialist says, no.  They are no worse than he would expect them to be (they are symptomatic of my fibromyalgia and other arthitises).  He gave me some different drops to help with the dryness in my eyes.

We are settled at the Hollywood Hotel tonight.  Benji was so tired from travel and playing at The Healthy Spot daycare today that he conked out right away.

Ellen took me to a great restaurant this evening, The Fig and Olive.  This is where Obama went when he was in town.  Very delicious, excellent service.

I had:

TRUFFLE MUSHROOM CROQUETTE
Cremini Mushrooms, Parmesan cheese, béchamel
Truffle Olive Oil aioli

Grilled Asparagus
Mixed Green Salad, Tomato, Scallion, Balsamic

and a cocktail that cost more than my appetizer - BACIO DELLA PESCA Vodka, bittersweet vermouth, muddled organic peaches,

fresh lime juice and a kiss of Italian sparkling wine

Ahhhhhh....

It feels good to be back, but strange.  Sort of like coming home, but not.

Hallelujah

Landed safe in LA. Staying at the Hollywood Hotel tonight due to some scheduling complication at Ellen's guest house, then at her place the rest of week. Benji in his old day care while I go to the eye doctor today.

79 degrees here!!

Hallelujah!!

Hi, Mom!

Today I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror and I had a look on my face so much like Mom's it was uncanny. Head back, chin tilted to the side. It was very familiar. I paused a minute and smiled, "Hi, Mom!"

Show Low

I'm headed to a very green place in AZ high country, Show Low, AZ for the weekend, to get out of the hot countey, see a rodeo, and my friend Page who is massaging cowboys there.  Tough job, but someone's got to do it.

Benji and I have a 3.5 hour drive ahead of us today so I've worked extra and will have my 40 hours in by 3:00 today.  He will love it, I think.  Being outside without the extreme heat factor will be like a miracle to us.  I look forward to great R&R and fun!

One of the best little things my sister ever did for me

Sis had this doodad from a keychain and put it on my purse because I had lost its zipper pull. It's awesome! So handy and cute!

"Good Job"

Says the Dave from Cleveland. Yeah!!

He also told me just now that as soon as next week sometime they may start cutting me loose to work some of the time remotely!! Great news!
